Turkish PM says flights to Libya to resume

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has confirmed Turkish Airlines will resume scheduled passenger flights to Libya following the signing of an agreement between the two countries’ governments last week, reports ch-aviation.

The agreement, which saw the return to Tripoli of Turkey’s Ambassador to Libya last month, will now lead to the resumption of passenger flights, he said in a statement. No timeframe was, however, specified.

Turkish Airlines ended regular passenger flights to Misurata and Tripoli Mitiga in January 2015 following an escalation in Libya’s internecine conflict. Since then, it has resumed only cargo services to the troubled North African country. (africanaerospace, photo: binaliyildirim.com)
