IATA outlines plans for Cameroon’s growth

cameroonThe International Air Transport Association (IATA) has said more jobs and economic growth can be achieved in Cameroon if it opens its markets to greater airline transport connectivity.

This was discussed during two days of high-level meetings between IATA and Cameroon’s political leaders, policy makers, regulators and members of the air transport industry.

IATA’s Vice President, Africa, Raphael Kuuchi, said: “Improved connectivity will see passenger volumes grow by more than 8 percent per year, compared with just under 5 percent for Africa overall. For Cameroon this means an additional 5.5 million passengers over the next 20 years accelerated economic growth and widespread prosperity.”

The meeting also generated discussion of Cameroon’s support of the environment, working towards the industry’s 2020 goal of carbon-neutral growth. (africanaerospace)
